Bx (Re)Birth and Progress seeks to build alternate solutions outside of the system that protects and honors birthing people in the Bronx and their families. They center Black people in the vision to see themselves free of systemic inequities by invoking the self-determination of past and current liberation movement leaders.

Bx (Re)Birth and Progress collaborates with people and programs that are committed to revolutionizing the way we birth in our communities. They strive to return universal dignity and care to the sacred ceremony that is birth through the development of anti-racist, inclusive, and trauma-informed initiatives.

Bx (Re)Birth and Progress Doula Services include:

  1. Physical Support: Breathing and moving with you to cope with labor.
  2. Emotional Support: At your side during pregnancy and labor with encouraging words.
  3. Information and Advocacy: Help from a trained doula to make choices about your pregnancy and birth.

Co-founder Carmen Mojica: "Long story short, we saw there was a necessity in the Bronx around moms and families that were going without their essential needs — like diapers, wipes, formula because of the [Covid-19] lockdown, and so we first came together around that. We realized very quickly that we had been working together toward similar goals around supporting families in birth, pregnancy, and the postpartum, and so everything coalesced into the perfect time to become a collective to be able to provide doula support, connect people to doulas, and start to work very intensely on maternal mortality and morbidity issues, as well as health for Black mothers and also other people of color."
