The mission of the Chicago Abortion Fund is to advance reproductive autonomy and justice for everyone by providing financial, logistical, and emotional support to people seeking abortion services and by building collective power and fostering partnerships for political and cultural change.

The Chicago Abortion Fund provides financial, logistical, and emotional support to people seeking abortion care in Chicago, Illinois, and the Midwest. They "envision a world where everyone has the freedom and autonomy to create lives, families, and communities that are healthy, safe, and thriving and where the full range of reproductive choices, including abortion, are accessible and affirmed."

CAF is a direct service model, part of the National Network of Abortion Funds, supporting people receiving care in Illinois from all 50 states and will support anyone who calls. The helpline (312-663-0338), is operated by staff and trained volunteers and is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Central Standard Time. Callers can also leave a message and receive a return call from a case manager within two business days depending on how close their appointment is. All information provided will remain completely confidential.

This service does not typically pay 100% of the cost of an abortion. Grants range from $100-$300. "We attempt to fund 100% of the people who call us, and we can support in connecting you to resources for additional funding," they explain. In addition to abortion funds, their team helps people get the support needed for things like travel, childcare, and lost wages. Since its founding in 1983, the CAF team has played an active and vocal role in the Midwest as an advocate for reproductive autonomy and justice. Volunteers can join CAF's Reproductive Justice Rapid Response list to keep abreast of urgent action items.
